Tsim Schneider, Ph.D.
Project Supervisor, Archaeologist
Tsim Schneider has been involved in archaeology for more than ten years, including projects in California (Marin, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Mateo, Sonoma, and Los Angeles Counties), Texas, Italy, and Baja California. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin, and he received his Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2010.
Tsim is trained in both prehistoric and historical archaeology. His dissertation research examined prehistoric and colonial-era Native American residence at three shell mounds located in China Camp State Park, Marin County, California. In the laboratory as part of his dissertation research, he examined lithic artifacts, basketry remains, shellfish remains, and historic artifacts, and he also has experience collecting and reporting radiocarbon dates, obsidian hydration dates, obsidian sourcing data, and seasonality data. At Pacific Legacy, Tsim has authored or co-authored several archaeological survey reports and in his supervisory capacity he has led archaeological surveys, test excavation, and data recovery at archaeological sites in Northern and Southern California.
