Mary O’Neill, B.A.
Project Supervisor/Archaeologist
Ms. O’Neill has been a professional archaeologist since 1998. As a Pacific Legacy project supervisor, she has supervised many complex and varied types of cultural resource projects for a variety of clients throughout California, southern New Mexico, and western Nevada. These projects include record and information searches, small and large scale surveys, prehistoric and historic site recording, establishment of remote field offices and field labs, large-scale burial recovery, testing and data recovery investigations, and eligibility evaluations for the National Register of Historic Places and the California Register of Historic Resources. She has coordinated and implemented work plans efficiently with clients, agency representatives, Native American representatives, construction contractors/crews and archaeological field crews. Ms. O’Neill has also facilitated and participated in Native American Monitor Training Workshops for Southern California Edison Company and Eagle Eye Enterprises (2005, 2006, and 2007). She has authored and co-authored numerous compliance reports, Archaeological Reconnaissance Reports for the Forest, and technical reports. Before joining Pacific Legacy, Ms. O’Neill worked on numerous Cultural Resource Management projects in California for private consultants as well as participating in volunteer work for the United States Department of Agricultural Forest Service Passport in Time Program and the Los Padres National Forest Site Stewardship Program. She was Project Coordinator for the UCSC Archaeology Archives at University of California at Santa Cruz (1999-2000). Ms. O’Neill meets the Secretary of Interior guidelines for professional qualifications to conduct archaeological investigations.
