Lori Hager, Ph.D.
Project Supervisor, Senior Osteologist
Dr. Hager received her Ph.D in anthropology (1989) from the University of California at Berkeley with a specialization in paleoanthropology and bioarchaeology. She has been a professional archaeologist since 1974 with a specialization in human osteology beginning in 1975. She has worked in California and abroad in Guatemala, Turkey, East and South Africa and throughout Europe. For 30 years, Dr. Hager has been the principal on-site osteologist for numerous archaeological projects. Her primary duties have been to direct the excavation and analysis of any human remains recovered within archaeological contexts. Her academic positions have included visiting professorships at the University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University, University of Oregon, and San Jose State University. Since 1994 she has been the senior osteologist for Pacific Legacy and responsible for the identification and analysis of human remains and report writing. She has worked on numerous sites for clients including Caltrans, MCI-Worldcom, Level 3 Communications, City of Palo Alto, Army Corps of Engineers (Pacific Division), and Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Beginning in 2000, she has been a contributing member of the human remains team on the Catalhoyuk Research Project, Turkey. She is currently using digital Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) to study ancient hand prints and fingerprints.
