Lisa Shapiro, M.A.
Project Supervisor, Human Osteologist
Lisa Shapiro has been in professional archaeology since 1980. As a Pacific Legacy project supervisor, she has supervised many complex and varied types of cultural resources projects throughout California and western Nevada, for a variety of clients. Lisa meets the Secretary of Interior guidelines for professional qualifications to conduct archaeological investigations. Before joining Pacific Legacy, Lisa was a supervisory archaeologist at BioSystems Analysis, Inc.(1992-1995) in Sacramento; PAR Environmental Services (1989-1992) in Sacramento; and PHRI in Hawaii (1988). She was Physical Anthropology Lab Director and Osteological Lab Instructor at California State University, Chico (1984-86) and Technical Illustrator/ Assistant Osteologist for the National Geographic sponsored Windover Archaeological Research Project in Florida (1986).
Ms. Shapiro has expertise in the following areas:
- National Historic Preservation Act (Section 106) compliance;
- Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act compliance;
- California Environmental Quality Act compliance;
- Human osteology;
- Consultation with Native American groups; and
- California archaeology and ethnography.
