James D. McIntoshSince 1991, James McIntosh has been working as an archaeologist in Hawaii and the Pacific. He has performed and directed numerous archaeological studies on all the major Hawaiian Islands, Saipan, Kwajalein, and Wake Island. Since James joined Pacific Legacy in 1998 he has been a supervisory archaeologist on a number of projects conducted in Hawaii. He has directed multi-phase projects including: archaeological reconnaissance surveys, inventory survey and testing, and data recovery excavations. He has been a field director on many projects supervising both large and small field crews. In 2001, he directed Pacific Legacy staff in archaeological data recovery excavations at the Honolulu City and County’s Smith-Beretania Parking Lot in downtown Honolulu. This study will add to the wealth of knowledge regarding the history of Chinatown and Hawaii’s early immigrants. James has co-authored numerous archaeological reports from Hawaii and the Pacific and aided in the background and literature searches for the archaeological sections of Environmental Impact Statements. He is certified in 40-hour HAZWOPER, and First Aid and CPR.
